Estimation of forest stand characteristics using individual tree detection, stochastic geometry and a sequential spatial point process model

چکیده
Airborne Laser Scanning (ALS) results in point-wise measurements of canopy height, which can further be used for Individual Tree Detection (ITD). However, ITD cannot find all trees because small hide below larger tree crowns. Here we discuss methods where the plot totals and means tree-level characteristics are estimated such context. The starting point is a previously presented Horvitz–Thompson-like (HT-like) estimator, detectability based on crowns tuning parameter α that models detection condition. We propose new method modeling spatial pattern hidden locations using sequential process model, with θ. also explore whether variability parameters θ predicted ALS features to improve predictions. accuracy stand density, dominant height mean as comparison criteria cross-validation procedure. HT-like estimator empirically performed best. overall performance was comparable. computationally less demanding, makes it attractive practical use.

Spatial variability and estimation of tree attributes in a plantation forest in the Caspian region of Iran using geostatistical analysis
This research was conducted to investigate spatial variability and estimate tree attributes in a plantation forest in the Caspian region of Iran using geostatistical analysis. Sampling was performed based on a 50m?125m systematic grid in a maple stand (Acer velutinum Boiss) 18 years of age using circular samples of 200m2 area. Totally, 96 sample plots were measured in 63 hectares and 14.25 he...
متن کاملDiversity, Stand Characteristics and Spatial Aggregation of Tree Species in a Bangladesh Forest Ecosystem
Assessing biodiversity and the spatial structures of forest ecosystems are important for forestry and nature conservation. However, tropical forests of Bangladesh are only sparsely investigated. Here we determined biodiversity (alpha, beta and gamma), spatial species turnover and stand characteristics of one of the few remnant tropical forests in Bangladesh. Two differently protected areas of S...
متن کاملEstimation of Tree Biomass at Individual tree, Sample plot and Hybrid Level using Drone Images
Two-dimensional image conversion algorithms to 3D data create the hope that the structural properties of trees can be extracted through these images. In this study, the accuracy of biomass estimation in tree, plot, and hybrid levels using UAVs images was investigated. In 34.8 ha of Sisangan Forest Park, using a quadcopter, 854 images from an altitude of 100 meters above ground were acquired. SF...
متن کاملForest Stand Types Classification Using Tree-Based Algorithms and SPOT-HRG Data
Forest types mapping, is one of the most necessary elements in the forest management and silviculture treatments. Traditional methods such as field surveys are almost time-consuming and cost-intensive. Improvements in remote sensing data sources and classification –estimation methods are preparing new opportunities for obtaining more accurate forest biophysical attributes maps. This research co...
متن کاملStochastic Forest Stand Value
The paper uses both the single rotation and ongoing rotation framework to study the impact of yield tax, lump-sum tax, cash flow tax and tax on interest rate earnings on the privately optimal rotation period when forest value growth is stochastic and forest owners are either risk neutral or risk averse. In the case of risk-neutral forest owner higher yield tax raises the optimal harvesting thre...
